Nebraska DE Moss and three others out for Gator Bowl

Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini has confirmed that defensive end Avery Moss will sit out of the Gator Bowl on New Years Day after returning home for a personal matter. According to Pelini, three other players will also be missing the Gator Bowl against Georgia due to violations of team rules.

Linebacker Jared Afalva and wide receivers Richard Wynne and Ishmail Jackson will not be allowed to play in the bowl game due to violations of team rules, which of course were not specified b Pelini. The losses of Afalva, Wynne and Jackson are essentially hits to the roster depth if anything. None of the three players suspended for the Gator Bowl had much of an impact on the field this season. Afalva played sparingly in four games and has not played in two months. Neither Wynne nor Jackson has been responsible for a catch this season.

Moss is a different story though. Moss was a steady contributor this season after playing in every game and spending some brief time as a starter on the defensive line. Moss has shown good ability to get to the quarterback and is second on the Huskers roster with 4.5 sacks this season.
