FoxSports1.com reported on Saturday that New York Jets linebacker coach Brian VanGorder is set to become the new defensive coordinator at Notre Dame.
He’ll replace Bob Diaco, who left the Irish to become the new head coach at Connecticut.
VanGorder was the Auburn defensive coordinator in 2012, when the Tigers struggled to a 3-9 record. Before that, he spent four seasons as the DC for the Atlanta Falcons.
He has some background with Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly. He was on the same staff as Kelly from 1989-91 at Grand Valley State.
