Charlie Strong to Louisville coaching staff: Decision has not been made

Contrary to previous reports, Charlie Strong‘s departure from Louisville to Texas may not be as close to a done deal as once believed. Strong gathered his coaching staff for a 9 a.m. meeting Saturday and word now is Strong has informed his staff a decision has not been made.

Cue the Texas meltdown now.

Multiple outlets had been reporting Strong was offered the head coaching job at Texas and was expected to accept it. That may end up being the result for Strong and the Longhorns, but his informing the coaching staff assembled at Louisville does raise a bit of an eyebrow and may be a slight cause for concern for those in Austin, Texas.

As noted before, the media demands at Texas as head coach never seemed to be the right fit for Strong, but ultimately winning football games and rebuilding and restoring the pride in the program seemed more than capable if Strong was the head coach of Texas.

Sports Illustrated reported Friday night Strong had agreed to a five-year contract valued at $5 million per year.
