After Missouri won a wild Cotton Bowl over former Big 12 sparring partner Oklahoma State, Tigers defensive end Kony Ealy made it official. Ealy will skip his final year of eligibility at Missouri and head to the NFL Draft this spring.

“I love my teammates. I love my coaches,” Ealy said after the Cotton Bowl victory. “I’ve gone from a boy to a man here.”

This season Ealy recorded 14.0 tackles for a loss with eight sacks over 14 games. In his final game with Missouri, Ealy recorded six tackles and two sacks as Missouri held off Oklahoma State in a back-and-forth finish to the Cotton Bowl Friday night.

A record 74 underclassmen declared for the NFL Draft in 2013. According to‘s list of underclassmen declared for the 2014 NFL Draft, 47 underclassmen have officially declared. That number will surely rise. Ealy is the only underclassman from Missouri to declare for the draft, so far at least.

Darn. I’d hope he stay. Many boards I’ve seen have him barely in the top 50. This could be a mistake he could well be a top 20 pick next yr if he stays. Oh well good luck Mr ealy life will go on at ole mizzou.

He’s as high as 12th overall in some mocks I’ve seen. I just wish Richardson would’ve stayed, I think we’d be looking at a national championship if you had Sheldon, Ealy, and Sam on the d-line.
