Greg Robinson jumps to NFL, adds to Auburn’s BCS heartache

Monday night, Auburn lost in the BCS championship game. Less than 24 hours later, the Tigers lost a player who played a significant role in getting them to Pasadena.

Via Twitter, Greg Robinson announced the he will be leaving The Plains early and preparing himself for the May NFL draft.

“I am so thankful... for everything [the coaching staff has] done leading us to a memorable season,” the left offensive tackle wrote. “I want to thank my teammates and I love them all. Also thank you Auburn Family the best fans in college football.”

The 6-5, 320-pound redshirt sophomore started 24 of the 25 games in which he played the past two seasons.

“Greg played a big part in our success this season and I appreciate everything he did as an Auburn Tiger during his career,” AU head coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. “He has a bright future ahead of him at the next level and we wish him nothing but the best.”
