Not only will Ball State lose its starting quarterback to expired eligibility, the MAC football program will have to replace one of the most productive receivers in the school’s history as well.
Head coach Pete Lembo confirmed in a statement Tuesday that Willie Snead has decided to leave the Cardinals for early entry in the May NFL draft.
“We appreciate Willie’s contributions to our program and wish him well as he pursues his dream of competing at the highest level,” said Lembo. “We have encouraged Willie to formulate a plan to complete his degree requirements.”
In 2013, Snead set school records for receptions (106), receiving yards (1,516) and touchdowns (15). Those totals were good for seventh, third and third in the country.
The 5-11, 193-pound Snead was named first-team All-MAC each of the past two seasons.
