Second accuser comes forward in accusing former Rutgers DC of bullying

In mid-November a report about a former Rutgers player accusing defensive coordinator Dave Cohen of bullying. Now, despite no longer being a part of the program after losing his job during staff changes at the end of the season, Cohen is once again tied to another case of alleged bullying.

According to a new report by MyCentralJersey.com, a former Western Michigan player approached Rutgers athletics director Julie Hermann via email the day after the original report was published. In it, the anonymous Wester Michigan player extended support to Jevon Tyree, the Rutgers player accusing Cohen of abuse, and explained Cohen made his life miserable at Western Michigan.

“I was once the target of Cohen at the University of Western Michigan where he was my dc before I too left the team due to the bullying I [received] from Cohen,” the email reads. “Cohen made my time at Western Michigan the worst experience of my life. I could not believe a man like Cohen was in a position of power because he [completely] abuses his authority.”

Hermann shared this email with other Rutgers officials, but no investigation was ever conducted. Cohen was fired about three weeks later, along with two other assistant football coaches. When approached by officers about the email, Cohen reportedly denied the accusations.

Cohen is currently a member of the Wake Forest coaching staff, coaching the defensive line.
