A starting member of Duke’s defensive line was one of two players to undergo surgical procedures that leaves their availability for the spring in doubt, the school announced Thursday.
Defensive tackle Jamal Bruce, a release stated, underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a broken right foot. Because of the rehab, Bruce will miss the contact portion of spring practice a couple of months down the road.
“[N]o timetable for [Bruce's] return to action has been set,” the school said.
In 2013, Bruce started all 14 for the Blue Devils.
In addition to Bruce, linebacker C.J. France underwent surgery the same day for a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Like his defensive teammate, Bruce will miss the contact portion of spring practice.
France played in 12 games this past season.
