Former Texas DL coach ditching USC for Alabama

Bo-Davis AP

Less than a week after he was introduced as USC’s new defensive line coach, former Texas assistant Bo Davis has decided to spurn the Trojans and take the same position at Alabama.

Davis, who cited ‘family reasons’ for the change of heart, will replace Chris Rumph, who just left Alabama for Texas, where Davis coached tackles for the last couple seasons. To make matters a little more confusing, Davis spent the four previous seasons before Texas coaching the defensive line at Alabama.

The only previously-mentioned school without a defensive line coach right now is USC.

“We wish Bo and his family the best of luck.  He is a good coach,” said Sarkisian.  “We will move forward and find a great coach for our defensive line.”

Things happen for a reason. Perhaps, this opens the door for Sark to convince Coach O it’s time to return home?

I think the UW would be willing to part with Tosh Lupoi ;-)

Seems that Bo Davis has the emotional commitment of a 17 / 18 year old athlete, who commits to a school, and says he’s a strong commit, then on the day before National Signing Day, he decommits and goes somewhere else.
Flakey, like a 14 year old high school girl.

Oregeron is close to signing with Bama too. From what I’ve read, Sark isn’t expected to win right away, if ever.

Come on Norm: Perhaps your right about coach O following his little buddy LK to bama, so good for him. He is a good man. As far as the comment about Sark not expecting to ever win, well that’s just a low blow. As we all know, that’s not true at all. Sark and SC are and will always be expected to win. That’s just built into their fabric.

Your right pdcooper, I threw inn a cheap shot. I’m already Jonesing for real football. I do apologize. I’m not saying I’m totally sold on Sark. I guess I don’t have to be though. The USC brand helps, but you have to have the right coach. USC and Bama fans alike know that. The good thing is we will find out. Best of luck
