‘Canes losing reserve OL Malcolm Bunche to transfer

The annual exodus of players from various football programs for parts undetermined continues, with Miami the latest to take a personnel hit to its roster.

The football program confirmed Tuesday that offensive lineman Malcolm Bunche has decided to transfer from the Hurricanes. No reason was given for the departure and there’s no word yet to where the Delaware high school product may head next.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel writes that Bunche “will not be able to transfer to any ACC schools or any of the non-conference opponents on Miami’s 2014 schedule.” The U’s out-of-conference games this coming season include Florida A&M, Nebraska, Cincinnati and Arkansas State.

As Bunche will be a graduate transfer, he would be eligible to play immediately in 2014 if he moves on to an FBS program.

After starting 12 games in 2012, Bunche, a three-star member of UM’s 2010, started just one game this past season.
