Clemson DE Vic Beasley to return for his senior year

Clemson got some good news on Tuesday as consensus All-American defensive end Vic Beasley decided to spurn the NFL in favor of playing his senior season for the Tigers, the school announced via Twitter.

Beasley had a monster junior season, leading the ACC in sacks with 13 and finishing second in tackles for loss with 23. He was also 10th in the nation in caused fumbles with four.

His return means that Clemson can count on at least a little bit of star power to come back from an 11-2 team that beat Ohio State in the Orange Bowl. Quarterback Tajh Boyd and receiver Sammy Watkins are both headed to the NFL.

Beasley’s move was probably a smart one, too. After all, with a record 92 underclassmen declaring early, the talent pool for this draft is deep. With another year of seasoning and quality production, Beasley can assure himself of a first-round selection in the spring of 2015.
