A former Florida State standout is returning to his home state, albeit a little bit south of where he first made his football mark.
USF announced late Thursday morning that Ron Dugans has been added to Willie Taggart‘s staff as wide receivers coach. Dugans, who was a star wide receiver for the Seminoles in the late nineties, had spent the past the past four seasons in the same position at Louisville.
Dugans was not retained by new Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino.
“Ron brings a great deal of experience and success as both a player and coach and I am excited to be able to add him to our coaching staff,” Taggart said in a statement. “He has done a great job developing wide receivers throughout his career and has been a part of some very successful programs. Ron is Florida native who has the respect of the high school coaches in the state and will be beneficial to our recruiting as well as the development of our receivers.”
Because of Dugans’ addition, David Reaves, who coached the Bulls’ receivers last season, will now be in charge of quarterbacks. Reaves had previously held the title of quarterbacks coach during stops at South Carolina, Tennessee and New Mexico.
