Already this month, it was reported that McNeese State would serve as the likely landing spot for an SEC running back.  Wednesday, it officially served as the definitive one for two players at the same position from the same conference.

Cowboys head coach Matt Viator confirmed yesterday that Arkansas running back Nate Holmes was one of three players to sign with the football program as transfers.  Another of those three?  Mississippi State running back Derrick Milton.

In the four games in which he played for the Razorbacks last season, Holmes rushed for 17 yards on six carries.  Holmes, a three-star member of the Hogs’ 2012 recruiting class, played in 15 games during his time in Fayetteville.

A three-star member of MSU’s 2011 recruiting class, Milton rushed 13 times for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2013.  He rushed for 165 yards in 2012.

Both Holmes and Milton, because they are dropping down to the FCS level, will be eligible to play immediately in 2014.

After a couple of weeks in Lake Charles they may regret their decisions.
