Head injury (still) leaves Utah QB Travis Wilson’s football future in doubt

A concussion put a premature end to Travis Wilson‘s 2013 season. Whether it puts a premature end to his playing career remains the great unknown.

Following the head injury in mid-November, it was revealed that Wilson had a preexisting condition, later revealed to be an intracranial arterial condition, that was found during neurological testing. JoMarie Wilson, the player’s mother, told the Salt Lake Tribune that her son has since sought treatment from doctors at both Utah and UCLA.

Despite rounds of testing, the mother stated that “no one can tell us anything yet” when it comes to Wilson continuing his playing career.

The paper wrote that “the family should have an answer at the end of February when more exams are performed.”

Wilson has started 16 games the past two seasons: the last seven of his true freshman season in 2012 and the first nine last season. He’s thrown 23 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in his career, and owns a below-.500 record (7-9) as a starting quarterback with the Utes.
