Utah’s depth and experience in the defensive secondary has taken an unexpected hit this weekend.
According to the Deseret News, defensive back Tyron Morris-Edwards has decided to take his leave of the Utes football program. After graduating from Utah in the spring, Morris-Edwards will remain in-state and continue his playing career at Weber State.
Because he will be graduate as well as moving on to the FCS level, Morris-Edwards will be eligible to play immediately in 2014 as a fifth-year senior.
Over the past three years, Morris-Edwards has played in 22 games. He originally came to the Utes as a walk-on wide receiver before earning a scholarship as a defensive back.
