FCS Samford the landing spot for ex-Sun Devil QB Michael Eubank

A little over a month after leaving Arizona State, Michael Eubank has found a new program with which to continue his playing career.

Samford announced Sunday that the quarterback has transferred to the Bulldogs. As Samford plays at the FCS level, Eubank will be permitted to play immediately in 2014.

Eubank will have two years to use his remaining two seasons of eligibility.

“We are very happy to have Michael join our team,” Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said in a statement. “He is an outstanding player and an outstanding young man. He will fit in well with our players and our program, and we are excited to have him.”

It was announced in mid-January that Eubank would be leaving the Sun Devils after being released from his scholarship.

After seeing substantial playing time in 2012, Eubank saw his time on the field plummet as he fell behind starter Taylor Kelly (no relation) and backup Mike Bercovici on the depth chart. Eubank threw and ran for four touchdowns each in 2012; in 2013, he had none of the former and three of the latter.

Eubank was a four-star member of ASU’s 2011 recruiting class, rated as the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback in the country.
