JC lineman enrolls at USC

Junior college defensive lineman Claude Pelon has officially enrolled at USC, the school announced on Monday.

Pelon, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound end from Mesa (Ariz.) Community College, signed with the Trojans in December, but had his enrollment delayed a bit while he was cleared for admission into USC. In the meantime, classes started on Jan. 13, which means Pelon is already a couple weeks behind.

He’s expected to make an impact right away for the Trojans.

“Claude is a big, physical defensive end,” said USC coach Steve Sarkisian. “He a guy we think can step right in and contribute immediately.”

The Trojans lost end George Uko early to the NFL draft, so it’s likely that Pelon steps into the defensive line rotation early.
