Alabama already lining up recruits for 2015

Nick Saban AP

This is one of the biggest recruiting weekends with National Signing Day coming up on Wednesday, but Alabama is using today to start locking in some recruits for the Class of 2015. Hosting a recruiting event for juniors, Alabama has secured verbal commitments from a pair of talented prospects for 2015.

According to TideSports.com, Alabama received two verbal commitments from offensive lineman Lester Cotton, a four-star recruit according to Rivals from Tuscaloosa, and wide receiver Daylon Charlot, a four-star wide receiver from Louisiana.

Charlot jumped on the opportunity to accept an Alabama offer, accepting it after receiving it from the Alabama coaching staff Saturday morning. Still early in the recruiting process, Charlot also has offers from Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona State  and Mississippi State. More are expected to come in despite accepting an Alabama offer. LSU would likely be coming with an offer at some point given he is one of the top prospects in the state.

Cotton, from the home town of the Crimson Tide, was likely never to leave the town if Alabama had interest. What program wouldn’t have interest in a  four-star lineman playing in their own shadows? Cotton already has a number of offers, including SEC rivals Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, and Mississippi State in addition to USC and Louisville, but early attempts to sway the Tuscaloosa heavyweight away from Alabama were probably doomed from the beginning.

According to Rivals, Alabama already has seven commitments for the Class of 2015, which includes the two newest additions. Six of them carry four-star rankings from Rivals.

Alabama does not rebuild. They simply reload.

They aren’t the only school already going after 2015 players. UGA has verbal’s from 3 already. I am not real excited though, until at least the 2014 season is done. These young folks change their minds about as often, as Obama suspends another part of Obamacare, and that is quite often. If they are still committed by the end of 2014, the team they committed to can start to feel fairly good, but even then, some just enjoy creating suspense.

Along with so many other schools across the country. What’s your point?

Simply to point out that this really isn’t all that unusual and also to point out, that until it gets closer to the signing day for the 2015 class, a lot can and will happen with these young men before then.
    Do you understand now!

And the legend that is Nick Saban continues. Its mind boggling what hes been able to accomplish as a cfb head coach. Im far from a Bama fan but as a cfb fan its hard deny how good he is. Cant wait till him and jimbo match up in next years playoff.

Love Alabama’s perennial success – they deserve respect, including Coach Saban’s work ethic.

However parity has been reached… the absolute awe and wonderment has been tempered.

    And….

“According to Rivals, Alabama already has seven commitments for the Class of 2015, which includes the two newest additions. Six of them carry four-star rankings from Rivals.”

A&M also has 7 commits for 2015, all of which are 4 stars so far….
