Domestic battery arrest triggers Nevada RB’s dismissal

An off-field incident has brought a premature end to Chris Solomon‘s career at Nevada.

Very early in the morning of Jan. 19, the running back was arrested and charged with first-degree battery in connection to a domestic incident. A statement released by the Reno Police Department over the weekend detailed what led to the arrest and charges.

“There was evidence that indicated Mr. Solomon had battered his girlfriend, as she had sustained injuries to her person. REMSA personnel were requested to respond and evaluate Mr. Solomon’s girlfriend, which they did. Based on the injuries and the evidence on scene, Mr. Solomon was arrested for Domestic Battery (1st Offense).”

Solomon was initially suspended indefinitely by head coach Brian Polian. The university subsequently confirmed to the Reno Gazette-Journal that Solomon has been dismissed from the football program because of the charge.

In 2013, Solomon was third among Wolf Pack running backs in rushing yards with 282. A three-star member of Nevada’s 2012 recruiting class, Solomon took a redshirt his true freshman season.
