Temple’s leading receiver no longer with the Owls

Robby Anderson‘s up-and-down career at Temple has reportedly ended on a decidedly down note.

CSNPhilly.com reported Thursday morning that the wide receiver is no longer enrolled at the university. A source told the website that the departure is likely related to academics.

Anderson left the program last offseason to deal with personal issues back in Florida, but returned to the Owls as a walk-on. “Although Anderson came back to Temple last year, he is not expected to do so this time around,” the website wrote.

A transfer is not expected either. While Anderson is three years removed from high school, he would not be eligible for the May NFL draft as he did not submit his paperwork prior to the Jan. 15 deadline for early entry. He could, however, petition the NFL for entry into its supplemental draft this summer.

Despite not recording any statistics the first three games of the 2013 season, Anderson led the Owls with 44 receptions for 791 yards and nine touchdowns. All nine of those score came in the season’s final five games. He had nine catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-49 loss to SMU in late October, then ended the season with three touchdown catches in a 20-point win over Memphis.
