Report: Greg Robinson interviews with San Jose State for DC job

Former Texas defensive coordinator Greg Robinson has interviewed with San Jose State to fill the same role for the Spartans, according to a report from CoachingSearch.com.

The 62-year-old Robinson replaced Manny Diaz at Texas two games into the season after the Longhorns gave up a school-record 550 rushing yards against BYU. He was also the Texas defensive coordinator in 2004. Prior to returning to Austin, he coached the Michigan defense for two seasons and was the Syracuse head coach for four seasons.

The Longhorns defense stabilized a bit under Robinson last fall, but it wasn’t enough to save Mack Brown’s job.

The Spartans could use a veteran hand on that side of the ball after finishing 104th nationally in both total defense and points allowed per game.
