Well-traveled Taylor Stubblefield hired at Utah

For the third time in less than three months, Taylor Stubblefield (no relation) will have a new college campus to call home.

Confirming reports that surfaced Tuesday, Utah announced Wednesday that Stubblefield has been hired as part of Kyle Whittingham‘s Utes coaching staff.  The former Purdue All-American will serve as Whittingham’s wide receivers coach.

Stubblefield will replace Aaron Roderick, who has been shifted over to quarterbacks coach.

“Taylor was a record-setting college receiver who has developed into a fine coach,” said Whittingham in a statement. “He will be an asset for us both on the field and through his recruiting ties across the country. We are excited to have Taylor join our staff.”

Stubblefield spent 2013 as receivers coach at Wake Forest but was not retained by the new coaching staff.  Less than a week ago, Stubblefield was hired for the same position at Eastern Michigan.

As noted by, Utah will be Stubblefield’s eighth different coaching job the last years.

“I’m fired up to be at Utah and to work for someone as accomplished as Coach Whittingham,” said Stubblefield. “I couldn’t ask for a better situation with the style of offense Coach Christensen (offensive coordinator Dave Christensen) plans to run, which fits my background perfectly. On a personal note, I am from Washington and my family and I are excited to be back out West.”
