Ole Miss’ Channing Ward pleads guilty to DUI

After a relatively quiet run on the legal front the past few days, a player from an SEC program has set the arrest ticker back to double zeroes.

According to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, Ole Miss defensive end Channing Ward was hit with multiple charges, including drunk driving, following a Jan. 19 arrest. Specifically, the 21-year-old defensive lineman was charged with DUI first offense, no insurance and improper equipment and grow up already people.

News of the arrest had not previously surfaced as the Daily Journal reports that Ward has already pleaded guilty to the drunk-driving and insurance charges. He was fined a total $1,451.

There was no word on what led to the initial traffic stop, and Ole Miss has yet to comment on what if any punishment Ward may be facing.

As a true sophomore in 2013, Ward played in 12 games. He played in the same number as a true freshman the previous season.
