For the third time in less than two months, a member of Bret Bielema‘s defensive coaching staff at Arkansas has left the Razorbacks.
Purdue confirmed via a press release Friday morning that Taver Johnson is the latest addition to head coach Darrell Hazell‘s staff. As he did with the Razorbacks, Johnson will be in charge of the Boilermaker defensive backs.
Johnson recently completed his second season at UA. In 2012, he served as assistant head coach and linebackers — with an interim head coach title thrown in during the transition from Bobby Petrino to John L. Smith — before moving to the secondary for the 2013 season.
From 2007-11, Johnson and Hazell were a part of the same coaching staff at Ohio State.
“I am thrilled to have Taver Johnson join our staff as the new secondary coach,” Hazell said in a statement. “He will bring energy and passion to that group. Taver has a wealth of experience from major college football as well as the NFL. I’ve seen him work up-close and in-person and love what he brings.”
