Earlier this week, it was reported that Oregon State offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh was a “strong candidate” for the same position at Oklahoma State.
A couple of days later, one OSU is still in search of a position coach while the other will keep its coaching staff intact.
In a tweet posted to his Twitter account Thursday night, Cavanaugh confirmed that, after sniffing around another football program, he will be staying with the Beavers. “Proud to say I am staying at Oregon State! Looking forward to coaching the current and future Beaver offensive line! Let’s grind!” the longtime Mike Riley assistant wrote.
Suffice to say, Cavanaugh’s boss specifically and the football program in general were pleased with the development.
It's a great day to STAY a Beaver! #GoBeavs @CoachCavOSU

Cavanaugh has been an assistant with the Beavers for all nine of the years Riley has served as OSU’s head coach. Cavanaugh was being considered as a replacement for Joe Wickline, who left the Cowboys for the line job at Texas in mid-January.
