One thing better than a single Richt as part of your football program? Having two of them, apparently.
Both then Athens Banner-Herald and Macon Telegraph reported Saturday that Georgia has confirmed Mark Richt has added his son, Jon Richt, to the UGA football staff. Specifically, the younger Richt will serve as a volunteer quality control assistant under his father.
The key word there, though, is “volunteer.” From the Telegraph:
There are Georgia state nepotism laws which prevent the hiring of family members, hence Jon Richt’s status as a volunteer under his father Mark, who will be entering his 14th season as head coach.
Jon Richt was a three-star member of Clemson’s 2008 recruiting class before transferring from the Tigers in March of 2009 to Mars Hill (N.C.) College to finish out his playing career. The 24-year-old Richt took part in UGA’s Pro Day last March.
