Community College after leaving the Vols. had Taylor rated as a four-star prospect coming out of high school in Lakeland Florida, while had him as a three-star recruit.  Taylor was the No. 19 strongside defensive end in the Class of 2012 according to the latter recruiting website.

As a true freshman in 2012, Taylor played in one game for the Vols.  Shortly after his departure from UT, Taylor was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
