Report: Craig James says he was fired for views on gay marriage

Craig James, a hot sports take all by himself, says he was recently let go from his latest television job due to his opinions on gay marriage.

According to a report by the Associated Press, James is stating Fox Sports Southwest terminated his contract due to his religious beliefs related to same-sex marriage. A complaint has been filed on James’s behalf by Liberty Institute, a nonprofit legal group promoting religious rights. Also according to the Associated Press report, Fox Sports released a statement stating James was hired without a proper vetting process completed and referred to James as a “polarizing figure in the college sports community.” The network believes James had used his role as analyst to “further his personal agenda.”

This would not be the first time James has been accused of using his television job to pursue an agenda. James previously worked for ESPN as a college football analyst. He resigned from his position with the network in 2012 to pursue a political career. This came shortly after a messy issue at Texas Tech that resulted din the firing of head coach Mike Leach. James had accused Leach of abusing his son, Adam.
