East Carolina makes receiver walk the plank after DWI charge

Three strikes and you are out, right? Such is the case for East Carolina wide receiver Danny Webster.

Following an arrest and DWI charge earlier this month, East Carolina has kicked Webster off the team. East Carolina head coach Ruffin McNeill confirmed the news Thursday.

Webster may have deserved to be kicked off the team just based on the driving while intoxicated charge, but his past certainly left little room for error. Webster was suspended by East Carolina twice before, most recently last October for a violation of team rules. He was also suspended in August 2012, which made him miss the season opener that season.

“We really do not have any other option than to dismiss him from the team,” McNeil said, referring to Webster’s checkered past since joining the program.
