Gators, ‘Noles extend rivalry through 2018

Late last week, Florida State athletic director Stan Wilcox publicly addressed the importance of keeping in-state rival Florida on its future schedules. With that heated in-state rivalry set to expire this year, both programs have agreed on the importance.

The Gators confirmed Thursday morning that its series with the Seminoles has been extended through the 2018 season. The 2015 and 2017 games will be played in Gainesville, while the 2016 and 2018 matchups will be contested in Tallahassee.

The most recent contract between the two schools had been set to expire following the 2014 game.

The two teams have met on the gridiron 58 times, with the first coming in 1958. The Gators own a 34-22-2 edge in the all-time series, although the Seminoles have won three of the last four. In those three wins, FSU has outscored UF 89-21.
