Herd hires former Wake star as RBs coach

Nearly a month after losing an assistant to a Big Ten program, Doc Holliday has filled the void in his Marshall coaching staff.

Chris Barclay, the school confirmed Thursday, has been hired by the program and will serve as Holliday’s running backs coach. Barclay replaces Thomas Brown, who left late last month to take the position at Wisconsin.

“Chris is an excellent addition to our staff,” said Holliday in a statement. “He brings strong credentials, as a player and coach, and has worked hard to get this point in his career. We are pleased to welcome Chris to our program.”

Barclay spent the past two seasons at William & Mary and the three seasons prior to that at his alma mater, Wake Forest. While a Demon Deacons running back, Barclay was named the ACC’s Player of the Year in 2005.
