WR Kwinton Smith leaving Gamecocks

A temporary break in spring practice has afforded Kwinton Smith the opportunity to presumably make a permanent break from the South Carolina football program.

Both BigSpur.com and GoGamecocks.com are reporting that the wide receiver has decided to take his leave of the Gamecocks and transfer to another program. No reason in particular was given for the decision, although the opportunity for more playing time might be a good place to start.

According to BigSpur.com, FCS-level James Madison is a likely landing spot for the Dillon, SC, product.

The 6-4, 202-pound Smith played in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2013, catching five passes for 42 yards. A three-star member of USC’s 2012 recruiting class, Smith was rated as the No. 51 receiver in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 6 player at any position in the the state.
