No timeline for naming a starting QB, Sarkisian says

Entering his first season as head coach at USC, Steve Sarkisian is expected by most to stick with the incumbent, Cody Kessler, as his starting quarterback.

While that may ultimately be the case, Sarkisian is in no hurry to get there.  Or tell anyone when he may end up getting there.

“When it feels right. I’m not putting a deadline on it,’’ the coach said of when he’ll go public with a quarterback decision. “When it feels right, when it looks right, I’ll probably let it sit one more practice, just to be sure, and then we will make a decision. Right now, we’re just gathering information and installing our stuff.”

In replacing four-year starter Matt Barkley in 2013, Kessler started every game for the Trojans as a redshirt sophomore, completing just over 65 percent of his passes for 20 touchdowns against just seven interceptions.  With Max Wittek transferring out of the program in January, it left, essentially, Kessler and five-star 2013 signee Max Browne as the two prime contenders for the job in 2014.  True freshman Jalen Greene, a three-star member of the Trojans’ most recent recruiting class, is an early enrollee and could play himself into the mix as well.

One week into spring practice, though, it’s apparent that the competition will likely come down to Wittek and Browne.  Thus far, however, the media can’t seem to agree on which one may have the early edge based solely on practice reps.

“Kessler… took a strong plurality of the first-team snaps during the first week of spring practice,” the Orange County Register wrote, while the Los Angeles Times describes it as “Kessler and Browne appear[ing] to have received close to the same number of snaps during the first three spring workouts.”

It appears somewhat unlikely that Sarkisian will name a starter exiting the spring, although such a decision is certainly within the realm of possibility.

Then again, most Trojan fans could be looking ahead a bit and simply biding their time by waiting for the next big thing to come to Town anyway.

@mydixienormus and all you other dogs out there.

Don’t Be bitter husky fans, we all know its hard to be dumped, but lets be real it was USC, you guys didn’t have a chance! Anyway as far as who will start for USC that’s simple whoever is getting paid more will start.

Spring is brutal for writers following college football. Nothing really to write about until fall, which is when this decision will be made.

Based on the two moronic comments above, spring must also be tough on certain fans with no other life than college football.

I don’t understand why college football fans are so hard-pressed to talk badly about former coaches, it’s hypocritical.

Steve Sarkisian was presented with the opportunity to take over a national powerhouse, the school that he was once an offensive coordinator as the program won National Championships.

He took the job, as most of us would. Why can’t people understand why he took the job? Instead of calling him names and saying he’s a liar just understand.

You don’t have to like it or agree, that’s your right. But, why do people feel the need to be spiteful? It’s a bit sad.

All Husky Football fans understand why coach Snark left.

What burns us is HOW he left.

How he lied on a radio interview about his intentions then took the USC job 3-hours later.

Now he is saying he wouldn’t change a thing about how he left.

    What a dick!

Karma is a bitch Coach Snark. Your payback is coming.

    @ mydixienormus

As far as the payback thing just look at the series of wins and losses between USC and your Huskies, and while your at it look at your teams overall wins in comparison to the rest of the field. SORRY BUT BASED ON OVERALL HISTORY AND RECENT HISTORY YOUR MID TIER TEAM WILL NOT BE GETTING THE REVENGE. Move on. Maybe you will put together better recruiting classes and start winning more regularly. Best wishes!

The Huskies upgraded coaches big time.

USC made a lateral move. Should work out great for them…

If that was a true statement then the university would have fired Sarkisian and hired Peterson. Not hired Peterson to fill the void of replacing the winning-est coach you’ve had in the last decade.

Also just a side note look up any list of top 25 all time winning division 1 teams, look up a top 25 all time division 1 win percentage list while your at it. Notice both USC, and WVU fall on these lists! No Huskies anywhere to be found, Don’t hate just try to improve. thanks!

UW is like a guy whose girlfriend breaks up with him.

He is bummed for a few days, but then he lands a wicked hot chick.

In the end, he looks back and thanks that ho for leaving him.

In case you USC fans are missing it, Sark is the dirty ho. Maybe that is why he licks his lips all the time…
