Pair of Longhorn reserves dismissed

The annual spring pruning of rosters continues Monday, with Texas the latest to “part ways” with a player or players.

Fullback Chet Moss and junior defensive back Leroy Scott (pictured), the school confirmed Sunday night, have been dismissed from the Longhorns football program. Other than the standard “violation of unspecified team rules,” no reason was given for the twin departures.

The dismissals came a couple of days before UT starts its first spring practice under new head coach Charlie Strong.

Scott was named as the Longhorns’ co-special teams player of the year in 2013, and played in 37 games during his UT career. Moss, who was suspended for the Thanksgiving Day game against Texas Tech, played in 27 games during his time in Austin, starting one of those contests.

Both of the players were juniors during the 2013 season and both played mostly on special teams after joining the Longhorns.
