UNT lands twin Lobo transfers

And we mean twins in the literal, brotherly sense.

While the school has yet to announce the additions, Rashad and Vershad Jackson confirmed to the Denton Chronicle that they both have decided to transfer to North Texas to continue their playing careers. The twin brothers are transferring into the Mean Green football program from New Mexico by way of Blinn College.

The impetus for the decision appears to be a desire on the part of the Texas natives to return closer to home.

“We want to stay close to home and go to UNT,” Rashad Jackson told the Chronicle. “We are starting the process of enrolling and are trying to make it official.”

In addition to UNT, the brothers had also considered Texas Tech and UT-San Antonio.

The defensive backs had originally committed to Washington State before signing with New Mexico. Vershad (pictured) played in seven games in 2012 while Rashad played in six that year, but both were dismissed from the Lobos shortly before the start of the 2013 season following a dispute with the coaching staff.

Both players were two-star members of New Mexico’s 2012 recruiting class.
