Some Alabama fans may still think the Crimson Tide had a win stolen from them there last fall, but Auburn’s Jordan Hare Stadium was the scene of a memorabilia heist Friday. Three Auburn students were arrested for stealing over $16,000 worth of Auburn football memorabilia, much of it related to former Auburn greats Cam Newton and Bo Jackson.

According to a report by OANow.com, the students broke into Jordan Hare Stadium through the locker room and made off with jerseys, helmet and a championship football from the 2010 BCS Championship Game as well as some other miscellaneous merchandise.

The full list of stolen goods, per OANow.com is as follows…

  • White No. 34 Bo Jackson jersey – $2,500

They should make the defendants take turns wearing the girdle on their heads during their court appearances. Hopefully, it’s used and never been washed.

I believe we paid $50 for these two pieces of fabric. But if I remember correctly, we valued them for the insurance company at $2,500/apiece. You see, Mortimer? These students have already made us $4,950!

Wonder how much merchandise gets swiped by players and staff?

This goes beyond generalized mishchief. The value of the items well exceeds Alabama’s grand larceny amount, anything valued at more than $500.00 is a felony.

Not only are these serious charges but I seriously doubt they will be allowed back for classes or access to the campus, and even Junior colleges scrutinize one’s criminal record before they allow a student to enroll. Felonies are not easy to get around when it comes to their future as far as education or jobs. Dumb asses would have gotten caught the moment they tried to sell that Bo Jackson jersey.

Favourite line re Auburn took place on Game Day at Vandy-Auburn game several years ago on a huge sign behind the Game Day talking heads:

    Auburn team ypg: 3/2
    Vandy team GPA: 3.8
