UCLA may have inside track on Snoop’s four-star son

With a little more than 10 months remaining until National Signing Day 2015, the son of rap legend and herb aficionado Snoop Lion (née Dogg) (née Doggy Dogg) has settled on a list of his current favorites -- with one of those possibly topping all others because of a familiar face.

Speaking to Rivals.com, Cordell Broadus told the recruiting website that "[r]ight now my top five would probably have to be UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, Oregon State and Florida State.” The Las Vegas high school product, who holds scholarship offers from more than two dozen programs, has yet to verbally commit to any school, although there could very well be a favorite.

Broadus is very good friends with Josh Rosen, the five-star California quarterback who committed to UCLA earlier this month. The opportunity to play with Rosen appears to be very much on the wide receiver’s mind.

“It’s really big,” Broadus said of possibly playing with Rosen. “Me and Josh have known each other since eighth grade and that’s a lot of chemistry right there.

“As great of a player as Josh Rosen is I can complement his game and coming in there as his No. 1 receiver that could be big.”

The Bruins have been on Broadus’ radar since they offered him a scholarship when he was in ninth grade, but the player acknowledged that “Josh going there that might give them some brownie points.”

Broadus’ famous father has been connected -- sometimes negatively -- to USC for some time and the Trojans are considered serious contenders for the receiver. Broadus recently moved from Southern California to Vegas and most expect him to opt for a school on -- or near -- the West Coast.

While Broadus may be known more for being Snoop’s son, he’s actually a very talented football player in his own right. Rivals.com rates him as the No. 21 receiver in the nation and has him listed as a four-star prospect.
