Ex-Miami (OH) HC joins Kent State staff

It took nearly six months, but Don Treadwell is finally back in the coaching game.

Kent State announced via a press release Tuesday that Treadwell has been hired as Paul Haynes’ running backs coach. Treadwell was “relieved of his responsibilities” as Miami of Ohio’s head coach early last October after less than three years on the job.

“We’re very excited to make Coach Treadwell a part of this program,” Haynes said in a statement. “I know we just made this program better with the knowledge and experience Coach Treadwell brings. ...

“I’ve known him for a long time and I always thought what a bonus it would be to work with him. If you look at where he’s been…he was a player in this conference, he was an assistant coach in this conference, he was a head coach in this conference, and he was an offensive coordinator at major programs.”

Prior to his time at the school, Treadwell served as Michigan State’s offensive coordinator for four years. He’s also had coaching stops at Cincinnati, Stanford, Boston College, North Carolina State and Ball State.
