Miami QB Ryan Williams suffers ACL injury

Al Golden AP

Miami senior quarterback Ryan Williams suffered an ACL injury in his right knee Friday night during a scrimmage. The non-contact ACL injury will lead to a surgery to be completed in the next week, according to a statement released via email by Miami on Saturday.

The 6’5″, 223-pound Williams has been competing for the starting job under center for the Hurricanes, so this injury will likely bring an end to that thought for the time being. Williams appeared in four games backing up Stephen Morris in 2013. In those four games, Williams completed 22 of 32 pass attempts for 369 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

There has been no timetable given for a return to action by Miami at this time.

Built in excuse for the upcoming suckfest at BrokenU. Will this buy Goldenfraude yet another year of sheer mediocrity? The bar is set so low by the people at the top of UM that it is just sad. On the way back right Cane fan?

It’s a shame he was hurt but he was never that impressive on the field. Deer in headlights. Gives Olsen another year of valuable experience.

35longmiles: I assume you are a gator or Seminole fan….either way you are an idiot

Care to elaborate on what you feel is inaccurate or do you just want to call names? Of course you don’t because there is an overwhelming body of information that supports my opinion.

As a Canes fan I’m not worried since I accept that Miami is still a couple of years away from title contention, especially with the crappy Offensive and Defensive coordinators they currently have.
As far as the haters and trolls are concerned, I enjoy the hate because it just shows their lives suck and they’re envious of us in Miami. Keep it up haters!

^true. The day that both our florida rivals come near as many championships as we (University of Miami) have is the day that you can voice an opinion…as for now you guys are just annoying idiots

He looked alright in the limited action we saw him in last year. Don’t think it’s really going to be a huge loss unless the next man up gets injured. 35longmiles is somewhat right in that it could by Golden more time. I thought for sure that if he didn’t have significant improvement this upcoming year that he’d be canned. Think about it, Golden was interested in leaving the U for Pedstate and put his recruiting class in jeopardy as a result. The guy is a good recruiter but he gets out-coached in most of the big games. Bring Butch back to the U!
