Oregon Ducks inspired by Floyd Mayweather’s work habits

A random meeting with Floyd Mayweather while on spring break in Las Vegas turned out to be quite the eye-opener for a few Oregon football players. The opportunity to watch him train served as inspiration as the Ducks continue through spring workouts. Considering how seriously the boxing champ takes his training, these Oregon players may have run in to the right inspiration.

According to a story shared by The Oregonian, Torrodney Prevot, Arik Armstead and Pharaoh Brown stumbled across Mayweather in Las Vegas when a store was shut down to the public so the boxer could do some shopping. The players were among those shut out of the store, but they took notice of the security guard sporting a Mayweather logo. This prompted the players to confirm it was Mayweather inside, which led to an invitation to watch the champ do some training. After that training session, the players got a chance to pick Mayweather’s brain.

Asked if the boxer would ever come to an Oregon football game, Mayweather joked he would rather make money off of the Ducks at home rather than come to a game in person. Mayweather is a known sports gambler, of course. Regardless, the takeaway from the rare opportunity is something the Ducks will not take lightly.

“Seeing him train is crazy,” said Prevot. “He’s just constantly works out, it’s amazing, life-changing.”

“You watch how hard he works and you see what he does and how successful he’s been from working that hard his whole life,” Armstead said. “I just try to model myself after that and to try to get to a point where you want to be at.”

As long as the Ducks are emulating Mayweather’s work habits and not his gambling habits, Oregon should be in good shape.

Are they gonna go out and beat up their girlfriends and then put on the most boring undefeated season ever seen?

The big difference is that Mayweather doesn’t lose.

Always wondered what three guys who aren’t of drinking/gambling age (two sophs and Prevot a true frosh) do in Las Vegas. Apparently watch Mayweather.

Cool to see guys from Cleveland, Sacramento and Houston build lasting relationships, though.
