Report: Alabama CB Jackson has torn ACL

Alabama cornerback Eddie Jackson underwent an MRI on Sunday, a day after injuring his knee in a scrimmage on Saturday. The results reportedly confirmed the worst fear for the promising cornerback. ESPN.com is reporting Jackson suffered a torn ACL.

For the time being, the injury will keep Jackson out for the remainder of Alabama’s spring practices. A torn ACL typically leaves a player out of action for up to a year, although there are examples of faster recoveries on record. How quickly Jackson is able to come back from this injury remains to be seen. No timetable has been shared by Alabama at this time.

The loss of Jackson could be a rough one for the Crimson Tide. Head coach Nick Saban has suggested Jackson was one of the top cornerbacks on the roster this spring. Jackson was expected to be a strong candidate for a starting job in the defensive line-up as well, so his absence takes an immediate hit on the depth for Alabama.

“We’ve just got to keep working and developing depth,” Saban said of the secondary according to the ESPN.com report.
