Interim tag removed by NCAA for enforcement director Jon Duncan

The NCAA must be pleased with the job done by Jon Duncan as the organization’s interim enforcement director. On Monday the NCAA removed the interim tag and made Duncan the permanent enforcement director.

“As interim vice president of enforcement, Jon led the team through a difficult time, and the enforcement team, and national office as a whole, grew and benefited from his service,” NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a release, according to USA Today. “As Jon’s term as interim vice president drew to a close, I knew he was the best person to continue leading our enforcement team.”

Duncan was brought on board to replace Julie Roe Lach, who resigned as the NCAA admitted it had acted improperly during the investigation of Miami. The embarrassing situation for the NCAA resulted in a number of changes before the Miami investigation could be completed. In the end, Miami avoided any postseason ban from the NCAA after voluntarily sitting out two postseasons during the ongoing investigation. Miami missed out on three postseason games as a result, with two potential bowl games and a spot in the 2012 ACC Championship Game.

Duncan has a long history with the NCAA as an advisor and outside council.
