After seeing significant playing time the past couple of seasons, JaRon Toney has decided to leave not only Tennessee but the sport completely.
By way of the Knoxville News-Sentinel, head coach Butch Jones confirmed that the defensive back is leaving the Vols and will pursue a career that does not involve football. The Arts & Science major, who would’ve been a redshirt senior in 2014, will graduate from UT this summer.
“I’m very appreciative of everything he’s done for Tennessee,” Jones said.
The past two seasons, Toney, who began his UT career as a walk-on in 2010, played in 23 games. He started 10 of those contests, mainly as a nickel corner.
