UConn announces home-and-home with Indiana

Please, contain your excitement. Don’w want anyone pulling a muscle or anything.

That said, and as you’ve figured out from the headline, UConn Tuesday afternoon announced a future home-and-home series with Indiana. The Huskies will travel to Bloomington’s Memorial Stadium on September 21, 2019 while the Hoosiers will visit Rentschler Field in East Hartford on September 26, 2020.

The two football programs have met twice previously, the first coming in 2003 and the last in 2006. UConn won both contests, including the first game ever played at Rentschler Field.

“We are excited to be able to add an opponent like UConn to our schedule,” IU athletic director Fred Glass said in a statement. “This addition keeps us in line with our goal of having seven home games every year and is consistent with the Big Ten’s policy that each school play at least one major conference opponent in the non-conference every season. We feel that adding UConn is great for both our fans and our program as we continue to move forward.”

Indiana will represent the second team from the Big Ten UConn will play those two seasons as the Huskies had previously announced a home-and-home series with Illinois in 2019 and 2020.
