Bahamas Bowl will kick off on Christmas Eve

The Bahamas Bowl, a brand new bowl game that will pair teams from the MAC and Conference USA, will kick off on December 24 in Thomas A Robinson National Stadium in Nassau. The game will be given a noon kickoff and will be televised by an ESPN network.

Thomas Robinson Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium with a seating capacity of 15,000 but has the ability to expand to 30,000. It is typically used for soccer matches and has a track running around the field. The view of the game may be less than ideal for some football fans, but the organizers of the new bowl game are confident they will be able to provide an enjoyable experience that will keep fans coming back.

“Our sports team is now working diligently with us to make sure that this event is successful and that the world now knows that we can not only attract events to this destination, but we can execute it,” Greg Rolle, director of sports at the Ministry of Tourism said, according to one report. “Once you execute it right and do it professionally, you can go back and say that the Bahamas is a small country, but they have some big aspirations and they do some things right.”

Conference USA recently took a larger stake in the new bowl game, assuring the conference more spots in the postseason game. The American Athletic Conference and Sun Belt Conference also have ties to the bowl game and will get an opportunity to send teams to the game somewhere in the six-year agreement currently set up.
