Kansas State moved Daniel Sams from quarterback to wide receiver in the spring, and apparently that switch didn’t sit well with the redshirt junior-to-be.
According to the Manhattan Mercury’s Joshua Kinder, Sams plans to transfer to an FCS school where he can play quarterback and have two years of eligibility remaining. In two seasons as as quarterback at K-State, Sams completed 44 of 61 passes for 507 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 807 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Sams fell behind Jake Waters on Bill Snyder’s quarterback depth chart despite nearly leading the Wildcats to a win over Oklahoma State last October. On Oct. 5, Sams went into Stillwater and completed 15 of 21 passes for 181 yards and rushed 27 times for 118 yards with a touchdown -- though two of his three interceptions came on K-State’s final two drives to seal a 33-29 loss.
Sams rushed 30 times for 199 yards and three touchdowns the next week against Baylor, though only completed four of seven passes for 41 yards with an interception.
In K-State’s spring game, Sams caught two passes for nine yards.
