Pair of CSU Rams granted medical waivers, extra seasons

The benevolence of the NCAA, on full display earlier in the day, has apparently rubbed off on the Mountain West.

Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain confirmed Wednesday that two players who could be contributors on the defensive side of the ball in 2014, linebacker Kevin Davis and defensive lineman Josh Lovingood (pictured), have been granted medical hardship waivers by their conference. Davis (knee) played in four games in 2013 and Lovingood (foot) in three before both suffered season-ending injuries.

Both players came in at or below the threshold of 30 percent of games being played that made them eligible for the waiver.

Lovingood was a true freshman last season, while Davis was a true sophomore. The latter played in eight games in 2012 before suffering an injury to the same knee.
