Top 2015 JUCO recruit commits to return to Auburn

Jovon Robinson

Leaving Auburn under a cloud of academic controversy two years ago, Jovon Robinson appears well on the way to making his way back to The Plains.

Following yet another round of recruiting, Robinson announced Thursday that he is verbally committed to play for the Tigers.  The running back is the top-rated JUCO player in the Class of 2015, with the plan being to graduate from the Georgia Military College in December and then enroll at AU the following month.

In addition to Auburn, Robinson held offers from, among others, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and USC. Just a year ago, Robinson was quoted as saying “I’m hoping I go to” the Tide; now, thanks to AU’s coaching staff, he’s headed back to UA’s Iron Bowl rival.

“I have taken visits and evaluated every school that offered me the opportunity to be a part of their program, and after careful thought and consideration, I have chosen to verbally commit to Auburn University,” Robinson said according to Rivals.com. “I have a long relationship with coach Gus Malzahn, and have developed a strong bond with assistant coaches Rhett Lashlee and Tim Horton, who did an outstanding job recruiting me.”

Robinson was a four-star member of Auburn’s 2012 recruiting class, rated as the No. 10 back in the country. In mid-August of that year, Robinson was ruled ineligible after it was found that a high school guidance counselor had altered his transcript prior to his arrival at AU.

Must have been all those extra national titles that Auburn is claiming that pushed him back to the War Eagle.
