Mark Richt: ‘We’re not thinking redshirt at all for’ Keith Marshall

By all accounts, this little “mini-controversy” can officially be put to rest.

In early April, it was reported that Georgia had not yet ruled out using a redshirt on Keith Marshall this coming season. The running back went down with an ACL tear in early October last year, with his participation in spring practice being severely curtailed as he continued to recover.

On Wednesday, however, head coach Mark Richt appeared to put the kibosh on the redshirt talk that had begun to slightly irritate the player at which it was directed.

We’re not thinking redshirt at all for Marshall,” Richt said according to Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph.

Not only that, there shouldn’t be any restrictions at all placed on Marshall once summer camp commences in a couple of months.

“Keith’s working really hard. I don’t think he has any limitations at all in his offseason conditioning,” Richt said. “I don’t anticipate him having any limitations when football begins.”

A healthy Marshall would be expected to be the top backup to starter Todd Gurley.
