When he confirmed earlier this month that he would be transferring from USC, Ty Isaac also acknowledged that a football program in the Big Ten could very well be his next destination.
A couple of weeks later, the signs are still pointing to a B1G move for the running back.
On Twitter Thursday, ESPN recruiting analyst Tom VanHaaren tweeted that “Isaac’s mother tells me Ty is visiting Illinois and also plans to visit Michigan next week.” Those two football programs, Isaac said in mid-May, were two of the first schools to contact him.
The Joliet, Ill., native left the Trojans in order to play closer to his ailing mother. According to the player, his mother is having complications after undergoing a surgical procedure to correct a hearing loss.
Isaac would also like for Notre Dame to be a transfer option, but one of the stipulations on his release from USC is that he’s not permitted to transfer to Irish -- or any other school that’s on Trojans’ schedule for the next couple of years for that matter.
Because of his mother’s health, Isaac will seek a waiver that would grant him immediate eligibility in 2014.
As a true freshman in 2013, Isaac rushed for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 40 carries. Coming out of high school, Isaac was a five-star recruit rated as the No. 4 back in the country and the No. 27 player at any position in the country.
